Selecting the perfect frame, for many people, is as difficult as selecting the perfect hairstyle or an ideal hair color. “We talk with clients about how frames should blend well with the shape of their face and the color of their hair, but the most important question is what do they do most of the time you are awake,” said Kandi Gullickson, who has worked for Carroll Eye Care for more than 10 years.

“If a client is in the construction business, he might want to consider transition lenses that will adjust as he goes in and out of buildings,” Gullickson explained. “Someone who sits in front of the computer will have different needs.”

Other helpful hints to consider, according to Vision Council of America (VCA):

• The frame shape should contrast with the face shape
• The frame size should be in scale with the face size
• Eyewear should repeat your personal best feature (such as a blue frame to match blue eyes).
